You probably know who actor Viggo Mortensen is, but if you don’t, he’s most famous for playing Aragorn, king of Gondor in The Lord of The Rings trilogy. He’s also a huge fan of Argentine club San Lorenzo, and that almost got him into some hot water.
Watching a game between San Lorenzo and Newell’s Old Boys on a laptop in the D.C. airport, Mortensen wildly celebrated when an 88th minute goal kept San Lorenzo clear of relegation, as you do. Because American airports are soulless places designed chiefly to suck the joy from life, security got annoyed.
I screamed GOAAAAAAL with all my soul, and started jumping around the place like a frightened deer among the passengers and their suitcases.
People can’t understand why am I screaming “PIPI!” (a player’s nickname) over and over again, and whether it’s because I’ve pissed myself or maybe I got hurt someway.
Mortensen was taken into custody by security but released warning him he would be escorted from the airport if he caused another disturbance.
Viggo Mortensen is such a big soccer fan his celebrations can cause homeland security warnings. Have YOU ever done that?
