Vegas Loves Germany’s Womens’ Team For WWC2011, Not For Playboy

Jason Davis, June 22, 2011

That would be the under-20s, which we’re sure Vegas love for other reasons.

But in Vegas you can bet on anything, so of course you can bet on the Women’s World Cup, if you’re into that sort of thing. Vegas has odds, and the home team is the favorite to take home the trophy. A rather strong favorite, actually.

Here’s your breakdown, per Johnny Avello of Wynny Las Vegas in an interview with Jaime Lowe at ESPN.com, because I know you’re dying to know.

Germany 6-5
Equatorial Guinea 250-1

And that’s it. Would it have killed Jaime to get the actual odds for the US? Or Brazil? Or anyone other than the favorite and the long shots?

It does seem like the USWNT are second favorites, so there’s that. And Johnny also goes on to say that gambling on soccer in Vegas is on an upswing. Even if it’s not your vice, take heart in the fact that more Vegas betting equals more attention for the sport and vice-versa. I don’t want anyone I know to lose money gambling, but I like the fact that people in general are losing money. If you get my drift.

Right, time for the rest of the odds since Johnny didn’t help us out much. These come from some blog that tracks these type of things, so they’re a little different.

Germany 5/4
Brazil 5/1
USA 5/1
Japan 12/1
Sweden 12/1
England 14/1
Norway 14/1
France 20/1
Canada 30/1
North Korea 30/1
Australia 40/1
Colombia 65/1
Mexico 80/1
New Zealand 80/1
Nigeria 150/1
Equatorial Guinea 500/1

I could see putting a ten spot on the US.
