Yesterday KCKRS brought you a 70s-tastic piece of NASL nostalgia in the form of the Washington Diplomats baseball cap. Today, our tribute to the long-extinguished franchise continues with these very cool Johan Cruyff’s Dips replicas.
Much like the ongoing trend these days with the MLS, the NASL once welcomed a wealth of international talent over the course of its lifetime in order to fill seats and improve its product. The well-documented stars to make the trip across the ocean included Pele, Carlos Alberto Franz Beckenbauer and the focus of this piece, Johan Cruyff.
The Dutch master who was set to join the super-stacked New York Cosmos made his début for another big market team, the Los Angeles Aztecas which lasted only one season. His sophomore season was spent with the Washing Diplomats which saw him once again named to the league’s All Star team.
Toffs stock a number of classic Cruyff jerseys — including his Netherlands ’74 World Cup shirt and his iconic Barca kit — but these red and white strips will win you more cool points.
