The MLS Playoffs Continue Tonight With Snowstorm Possibilities

Jason Davis, November 7, 2012

Just a week after Hurricane Sandy had her way with the Northeast, forcing a switch of venues for the first leg of the D.C. United-New York Red Bulls MLS playoff series, another storm is set to wreak havoc the second lage. Despite the previous damage to the area and the potential for an inch of snow and 50 mph wind gusts in sub-freezing temperatures, Red Bull-United will go on at Red Bull Arena. This is either going to be really fun, or really ugly.

The storm even has a name, Athena, which is weird since I thought only hurricanes got names*.

Anyway, he’s the hourly forecast for Harrison, New Jersey from Weather.com:

And here some people want MLS to switch calendars and play through the winter. Yeah, that would definitely work.

*Tip of the hat I’m not wearing to @messedupRyan, who sent me this link about winter storms getting names now, too. Makes hurricanes less special, but whatever. Can’t wait for winter storm Bacchus.
