MLS Teams Up With adidas for World’s First ‘Smart Soccer Match’

Eugene Kan, April 10, 2012

After being first to market with their micoach tracking system for players, adidas and the MLS announce a new partnership ahead of the 2012 AT&T MLS All-Star Game. The July 25 affair in Philadelphia will feature the world’s first “smart soccer match” involving micoach’s new professional soccer team tracking system.

Making changes will no longer require post-game analysis as stats such as player positioning, power output, speed, distance covered, intensity of play, acceleration and GPS heat mapping will all fall under the metrics of the system. While fans have become accustomed to being bombarded with stats, these new performance stats will provided yet another measure for those looking to take a more scientific approach to success.
