Eddie Johnson Joins Puebla, Gets Cut By Puebla

Keith Hickey, January 3, 2012

Just when it looked like The Grown-Ass Man’s career was getting back on track, turning down MLS to join DaMarcus Beasley at Mexican club Puebla, it’s all gotten derailed again. Just days after arriving at his new team, he’s again unemployed.

Citing a translated report by MedioTiempo.com, SB Nation Soccer is reporting that the former Fulham striker failed a physical and was subsequently released, an embarrassing development for the 27 year old, whose career has seemingly been in an inexorable slide for the last few years.

After failing to crack the first team at Fulham, where he moved in 2008, Johnson had a largely unsuccessful spell on loan to Cardiff City. Although decent performances at Greek side Aris earned him another national team look, another failed loan, this time to Preston North End, led to Fulham choosing not to renew his contract.

Now, having rejected an offer from MLS and being unceremoniously dumped sooner than last week’s leftovers, Johnson is again a free agent.
