Celtic Manager Neil Lennon Answers Journo’s Phone During Press Conference

Jason Davis, January 22, 2013

One of the hazards of modern day football journalism is the possibility that your smart phone—which can conveniently be used as a voice recorder during press conferences—will go off in the middle of a press conference. When that happens, the subject can either pretend he doesn’t hear the ridiculous loud ringing, or he can answer the phone. The former is only funny when the ringer is something terrible like an LMFAO song. The latter is always funny, like when Neil Lennon answers a call from a reporter’s wife.

David Beckham almost did this at a pre-MLS Cup press conference, but demurred because of sponsorship concerns. Or maybe that was a joke. Sometimes it’s tough to tell with Ol’ Becks.
