After a week or so of holiday absence, I returned to the Hypebeast offices to see a mountain of packages. One particularly heavy box caught my attention, and a quick slice of the Xacto knife revealed two copies of adidas’ all-new brand history book The Story As Told By Those Who Have Lived and Are Living It. Nestled between a robust 640-some pages are years upon years of experience, sporting achievement, outstanding visuals and interviews with some of adidas’ greatest sponsored athletes and personalities.
adidas has long held a soft spot in my heart, growing up in a time before Nike had made its successful push into soccer, no brand including the likes of PUMA or Umbro held a candle to The Three Stripes. Whether it be their foray into boot innovation with the Predator or glove innovation (which I have since dismissed as unnecessary) with the Fingersave, I am forever indebted to adidas. This is in my eyes the best coffee table book possible, however it’s unfortunate that there is no commercial release slated for the book.
