Patrick Dempsey, best known for his role on the hit television series Grey’s Anatomy and star of several terrible 80s flicks, has teamed up with Italian football great and current Australia resident Alessandro Del Piero to form a racing team. Called Dempsey/Del Piero Racing, the team has filed to enter the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans and will field at least two cars in the American Le Mans series.
“We are excited to join forces with Alessandro and compete at the highest levels of racing,” Dempsey said. “Alessandro’s passion for winning and leadership skills will be invaluable, and he will play an important role in the development and direction of the team.”
“I have had a passion for motorsport since I was a young boy growing up in Italy” Del Piero said “I am thrilled at the opportunity to team with Patrick. We expect to compete at a very high level and our central focus will be on winning championships.”
Expect imminent announcements by other Le Mans teams about the unfairness of competing against such a dreamy pair of car owners. Juventi Grey’s Anatomy fans should take this opportunity to remember to breathe.
